Steve Walton is a lifelong resident of Tahoe City, California. His love for structures began at an early age when he worked at his father’s side during the summers as a carpenter. His love for structures brought him to study engineering at San Diego State University where he earned a degree in civil engineering. At San Diego State University, he was a member of the civil engineering honors society, Ki Epsilon, and vice president of the College of Engineering’s student body.
Upon graduation from San Diego State University, Steve worked for a small structural engineering firm in San Diego for several years that focused on commercial structural design. His love for Tahoe brought him back to the area in 1998 and he began working for a local engineering firm focusing on custom residential design. In 2002 he became a sole-practitioner and founded Walton Engineering. In 2005, he co-founded Walton A/E with his wife, Clare Walton.
Steve Walton’s family still lives in Tahoe City and he values his connection with them. He spends most of this free time with his wife and new daughter and enjoys an active mountain lifestyle. He enjoys skiing, biking, hiking, and climbing.
