Clare Walton has had a lifelong passion for architecture, setting most of her other toys aside for a crayola drafting set before the completion of elementary school.  She followed her passion and pursued a degree in architectural studies through a 3+2 cooperative program between Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, New York and the Washington University School of Architecture in St. Louis, Missouri, graduating magna cum laude.  As part of her collegiate work, she spent six months studying architecture in Copenhagen, Denmark through a program affiliated with Copenhagen University and six months studying fine art in Bath, England through a program affiliated with Oxford University.

Following the completion of her collegiate studies, her love for the mountains brought her to Tahoe City, California in 1999 where she began working for a local architectural firm focusing on custom residential design.  The puzzle pieces to her lifelong dream fell into place. In 2009, Clare co-founded Walton AE with her husband, Steve Walton.

Clare Walton lives in Tahoe City with her husband and two daughters.  She has a true love for the mountains and enjoys cycling, mountain biking, alpine and nordic skiing, trail running, and swimming.  She is involved with the local community as an active member of the Tahoe Basin Design Review Committee and she served on the Tahoe City Downtown Association’s Board of Directors for two years.  Clare Walton is a licensed architect in California and Idaho.  In addition, she is a licensed residential designer in Nevada.
