Clare Walton has had a lifelong passion for architecture, setting most of her other toys aside for a crayola drafting set before the completion of elementary school. She followed her passion and pursued a degree in architecture through a 3+2 cooperative program between Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, New York and the Washington University School of Architecture in St. Louis, Missouri where she graduated magna cum laude. As part of her collegiate architectural studies, she spent six months studying architecture in Copenhagen, Denmark through a program affiliated with Copenhagen University and six months studying fine art in Bath, England through a program affiliated with Oxford University.
Upon completing her collegiate studies, her love for the mountains brought her to Tahoe City, California in 1999 where she began working for a local architectural firm focusing on custom residential design. The puzzle pieces to her lifelong dream fell into place. In 2005, Clare co-founded Walton A/E with her husband, Steve Walton.
Clare Walton lives in Tahoe City with her husband and new daughter. She has a true love for the mountains and enjoys skiing, biking, trail running, and hiking. She is involved with the local community and is a member of the Tahoe City Design Review Committee. She served on the Tahoe City Downtown Association’s Board of Directors for two years and continues to be a member of the Tahoe City Downtown Association’s Design/Historic Committee.
